St. John’s welcomes you.
In the United Church of Canada, we believe that faith is not just a box to tick but a life-long process of growing, asking questions and evolving. It is so fulfilling when you find a Church family where you feel supported in difficult times and celebrated during moments of joy as you continue your faith journey.

We believe God intends loving relationships to be faithful, responsible, healing, and sustaining for the couple and those around them. As a faith community, we welcome couples who choose to commit their lives to each other in the sight of God. Inter-faith services can also be coordinated with our minister.

Celebrations of Life / Funerals / Memorials
Celebrations of Life, Funeral services and Memorials are an important way of marking the close of a person’s life on earth. They offer the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief after a loss – but also time to reflect and the chance to share special memories and celebrate loved ones who have passed. St. John’s Ministerial staff are highly experienced and can plan a suitable service to honour the life of your loved one. Membership in our congregation is not a prerequisite.
Music and readings are especially important and can evoke powerful memories. Our Musical Director can work with you to arrange to play music or find soloists to perform.
Services planned with over 35 people in attendance require the presence of funeral home staff to ensure all fine details are attuned to.

Baptisms
Baptism with water in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit is the sacrament by which we signify and seal our union to Christ and participate in the blessings of the new covenant. The sacrament of baptism is a welcoming into community, a community where a child will be nurtured in the Christian faith. On the day of the baptism, the community promises to support you, as parents, on the all important journey of faith.
A St. John’s sponsor will stand with your family on the day of the baptism and present you with a baptismal candle. Your sponsor will keep in touch with you over the coming months and years to let you know about special services and inquire about ways our congregation can continue to support you in the spiritual development of your children. The United Church of Canada does require that one parent of a child being baptized be active members in a congregation.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a point in a person’s Christian journey when they decide to affirm the promises made at Baptism by their parents or guardians. Confirmation doesn’t signify that you have found all of the answers but rather that you’re committed to continuing to ask the questions.
Confirmation is an important part of Christian faith as it confirms an intention to live as a follower of Christ.
Note: Baptism and Confirmation are available at any stage of life
Please contact [email protected] to obtain more information or to talk about a baptism or confirmation for yourself or your child.
